Jeff Talley, a former LAPD hostage negotiator, has moved himself away from his failed career outside of Los Angeles, and away from his wife and daughter. When a convenience store robbery goes wrong in his turf, the three perpetrators move in on an unsuspecting family. But the family's father has a secret which might compromise his kin, and one of the criminals is about to jump over the edge. Jeff Talley has to get everybody to survive the night......if he can. HERE IS A REVIEW FOR THE MOVIE HOSTAGE FROM DVDTALK

The Movie:

Florent Siri's 2005 action/thriller Hostage was a bit of a sleeper. I think a lot of people expected crazy Matrix style action scenes and rapid fire editing but instead what they got was a clever and suspenseful film with good performances and an emphasis on the story as opposed to the gun play.

Bruce Willis plays Jeff Talley, a tough guy with a big heart (a real stretch for Willis there) who used to be a hostage negotiator who has since taken a job as the chief of police in a small California town after a young boy was killed on his last big job, shot to death by his crazed father.
