HERE IS THE SUMMARY FOR THE MOVIE CASINO FROM IMDB

This Martin Scorsese film depicts the Janus-like quality of Las Vegas--it has a glittering, glamorous face, as well as a brutal, cruel one. Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970's and '80's are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough strongman, robbing and shaking down the locals. However, they each have a tragic flaw--Ace falls in love with a hustler, Ginger, and Nicky falls into an ever-deepening spiral of drugs and violence. Written by Tad Dibbern {DIBBERN_D@a1.mscf.upenn.edu}

Sam 'Ace' Rothstein, a mob-connected casino operator in Las Vegas, attempts a civilized lifestyle with his money-conditional wife, Ginger. Nicky Santoro, a boyhood friend of Ace and now a Made-Man of the Mafia, arrives in town with an ambitious agenda of his own that soon disrupts Ace's life. Before long, Ginger and her long-time leeching lover Lester, along with Nicky's mistakes, causing problems. Written by Brian Whiting {bwhiting@holly.colostate.edu}

HERE IS A REVIEW OF THE MOVE CASINO FROM DVDTALK

The Movie: "Casino" is a fascinating, exciting picture that gets occasionally gets sidetracked by a couple noticable problems. Martin Scorsese's 1995 picture starts off remarkably well. After a short opening, we are lead into the heart of Las Vegas by one Sam "Ace" Rothstein. The mob is skimming thousands out of the Casinos of the city - in one particularly interesting scene, the camera goes into the back rooms and we see the money coming in in almost unimaginable amounts. We also see the rivers that break off from the main stream. Rothstein is joined by several people from all parts of the mob, but there's one individual who'd cause the most trouble. Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) is an old friend of Ace, but he's extremely volatile and violent, a dangerous criminal who forces his weight around the city - soon enough, he's got his own gang who starts to draw too much attention to themselves, which results in stand-offs between the two old friends. Something else comes between the two, as well. Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone) is spotted one day by Ace while he's watching the cameras looking down on the casino. He's fallen for her, but she's going to end up causing him more trouble than he'd expected. The two are enjoying one another at first, but she's soon heading back to her low-end criminal ex, played well by James Woods. Public fights and the high-cost of her company soon threaten not only their marriage, but Ace's business in Vegas.

During their first year of high school, four best girlfriends face off against the domineering student body president who wants to split them up into different social cliques.

HERE IS A REVIEW OF THE MOVIE BRATZ FROM DVDTALK

The Bratz are a line of big-headed, fashion-conscious dolls aimed at tween girls, who are past the age where they want to play with Barbies but just getting to the age where they want to live out their slutty, materialistic fantasies vicariously through playthings. The Bratz dress provocatively and have been the source of controversy among parents who feel they encourage a too-early sexualization of young girls. One of the Bratz toy sets has the Bratz sneaking out of the house to go on blind dates with boys. Hooray for teaching skankiness at an early age! The Bratz' first live-action movie, cleverly titled "Bratz" and evidently inspired by the animated TV series of the same name, is appalling and horrific, but for entirely different reasons. The producers have wisely toned down the trampiness of the girls' outfits, perhaps realizing that what garners a few raised eyebrows when it's worn by a piece of plastic would garner torch-wielding mobs if it were worn by actual young girls (or even 20-year-old actresses playing young girls). And the Bratz' fondness for buying clothes is not played up as heavily as you might expect, either, though that's not to say there's not still plenty of materialism to be found. MTV and MySpace are name-checked several times each.

Carol Anne has been sent to live with her Aunt and Uncle in an effort to hide her from the clutches of the ghostly Reverend Kane, but he tracks her down and terrorises her in her relatives' appartment in a tall glass building. Will he finally achieve his target and capture Carol Anne again, or will Tangina be able, yet again, to thwart him? Written by Rhino {rhino@blueyonder.co.uk}

HERE IS A REVIEW FOR THE MOVIE POLTERGEIST III FROM DVDTALK

The movie

If there were ever an example of sequels missing the point of the original film, Poltergeist II and Poltergeist III would be it. The original Poltergeist scared the living daylights out of me when I saw it as a kid. I mean, it terrified me. When I saw it again as an adult, admittedly it had lost its visceral pulse-pounding effect, but frankly, it still worked pretty darn well. The reason for that is that it's a nicely constructed story: it starts off low-key and innocuous, telling about some strange and slightly creepy events happening to a normal suburban family, and little by little ratchets up the tension level. The story focuses on discovery, as the Freelings gradually get pulled into a scary supernatural world and have to deal with it. The apocalyptic finale is spectacular precisely because it's been reserved for the end.

Fast-forward to Poltergeist II. Someone must have looked at the original film and decided that the magic ingredients were "cute kid" and "gross special effects"... because we get both of those right away. Right away we're given a bunch of ghostly effects and "scary" corpses, not to mention strange, "spooky" men following Carol Anne (Heather O'Rourke) around. But since there's no buildup, it's all ho-hum. Oh, look, a gruesome corpse. Yawn. Look, a sinister man. Whatever. I don't get any feeling that the filmmakers understood what made the scary moments in the original film actually be scary; if they did they certainly didn't know how to do it again.

Of course, the hurry-up-and-show-the-special-effects approach isn't the only thing that makes Poltergeist II a lousy movie. Frankly, it's just plain badly paced, badly written, and badly acted... though on that last count, I suspect that the actors were making the best they could with what they had. The plot jerks and stumbles along, offering a retread of the spirit-invasion/temptation story of the original Poltergeist, but with a Native American "spirit guide" character tossed into the mix along with Tangina, the psychic from the first movie.

Written by Max Davison {RockyHexorcist2785}

HERE IS A REVIEW FOR THE MOVIE DATE MOVIE FROM DVDTALK

The Movie

The art of the full-length movie parody has been on a slow, steady slide down the mountain since hitting its peak with Airplane, raising our hopes with The Naked Gun and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, and crashing head-first into gross-out jokes with Scary Movie. The latest movie to besmirch parody's good name is Date Movie, which aims to parody romantic comedies, but ends up trying to make jokes about any recent pop culture reference that more than 10 people know.

The film's central story follows Julia Jones (Alyson Hannigan), a rather rotund woman, who's looking for love. Of course, the only way she can find it is to change herself entirely. But once she finds Grant, her handsome English man (Adam Campbell), she has to deal with their families' incompatibility, Grant's sexy old flame (Sophie Monk) and the usual misunderstandings. Along the way, the film attempts to cram wall-to-wall references to movies and TV, whether they make sense or not, and usually, they don't.

One of the film's obvious weaknesses is the lack of available material. There's only a small amount of popular "date movies" out there that are memorable enough to parody, which limits the film to a select few items of source material to choose from, forcing it to go to the well again and again. Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers makes up a good 50% of the film's inspiration, with a handful of other films thrown in. After that, the movie goes off the Rom-Com track and starts pulling from Star Wars, Kill Bill and even commercials. It probably points to a larger problem for parody films, and that's the lack of shared experience in today's culture thanks to the many choices we have.

HERE IS A REVIEW FOR THE MOVIE WEDDING CRASHERS FROM DVDTALK

The Movie
Based on the trailer, you'd think this was a wild comedy set in the world of weddings, where sex and humor dance to cheesy novelty songs, fueled by free drinks and pass-around appetizers. Instead, the movie is a short amount of comedic set-up, followed by a lengthy romantic plot and a couple of comedic interludes. That's not to say the movie isn't a good time. It is. It's just not the good time you'd guess it would be when you see the trailer.

The basic story revolves around John (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy (Vince Vaughn), a pair of arbitrators whose hobby is crashing weddings in order to have fun and meet girls, since they are often drunk, emotional and desperate for relationships. The guys live this life, and live it well, based on a set of rules that have been handed down by the legendary Chazz, who pioneered the art of wooing bridesmaids.

The first 14 minutes of the movie set up their hedonistic world well, showing them work their magic at a number of weddings, with the help of some particularly artful nudity. It all changes though when John has a change of heart following an off-night. Instead of living the wedding crasher lifestyle, he begins to think about something real. Jeremy doesn't quite see it that way, and thinks he has the perfect way to snap his pal out of his funk: the wedding of the year.

HERE IS A REVIEW FOR THE MOVIE JUST MY LUCK FROM DVDTALK

THE MOVIE

This summer's real disaster movie was "Just My Luck," a gruesome trainwreck of a film in which no one says or does anything even remotely resembling what a real person would say or do in the same situation. Every single scene is an abominable assemblage of mind-boggling stupidity, completely unmotivated behavior, and unfunny slapstick. I haven't been as frustrated and enraged by a film's all-out idiocy since ... well, since "She's the Man" two months earlier. But before THAT, it had been a long time.

The premise is that a super-lucky woman and a very unlucky man meet at a masquerade ball, share a kiss, and in so doing reverse their fortunes. Now miserably unlucky, the woman has to find the mysterious stranger she kissed, kiss him again, and switch everything back again.

Now, here's the thing: I don't even have a problem with that premise. It's a fantasy premise, like the boy waking up as a grown man in "Big," or the mothers and daughters switching roles in the various "Freaky Friday" movies. There was a Spanish film a few years ago called "Intacto," where "luck" was an actual commodity that you could take from people and use for yourself. All of those films work just fine.

HERE IS THE REVIEW FOR THE MOVIE CURSED FROM DVDTALK

The Movie

Let's get one thing straight, right off the bat: This "unrated version" of Cursed is not what the horror fans are looking for. The Cursed that we'd like to see is the one that Wes Craven put together before the Miramax folks tore it apart -- if such a version even exists anymore. The history of this film's production has been marred by extensive rewrites, production stoppages, re-castings, and wholesale facelifts. There's a pretty fascinating book waiting to be written about the Cursed backstory -- but even those who'd love to read that book will find very little insight in this "unrated" DVD edition.

Bottom Line: This is the exact same Cursed that you saw in the movies (if you were among the 217 people who bothered), with just a few extra bits of gore and gristle thrown into the mix. Theatrically, Cursed ran 97 minutes; the "unrated" version runs 99. (It's been widely reported that Miramax snipped Cursed from an R to a PG-13 less than a month before the film's theatrical release; similar reports indicate that this "unrated" version is the exact same cut that played in Canada.)

Set in 19th Century Canada, Brigette and her sister Ginger take refuge in a Traders' Fort which later becomes under siege by some savage werewolves. And an enigmatic Indian hunter decides to help the girls, but one of the girls has been bitten by a werewolf. Brigitte and Ginger may have no one to turn to but themselves. Written by Wallace Entertainment

In 1815, in Canada, the sisters Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) and Brigitte (Emily Perkins) survive to a boat sinking, where her parents die. Alone and lost in the forest, they meet an old clairvoyant Indian that foresees their fate. Later, they are guided by the Indian The Hunter (Nathaniel Arcand) to a fort, and they seek for shelter with the men of the Northern Legion Trading Company. They note that the place is under siege of "Wendigos", a sort of werewolf that has killed most of the dwellers of the place, and the survivals are very afraid. Their lives are put in danger by the deranged locals and by the surrounding beasts. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Prequal to 'Ginger Snaps' has the orphaned sisters Ginger and Brigette, before becoming werewolves, in 1815 Canada where they stumble into a war between Native American "Wendigos" besieging a remote trading post populated by brutal settlers. Written by Matt Patay

HERE IS A REVIEW OF THE MOVIE GINGER SNAPS III FROM DVDTALK

Two out of three ain't bad. The original Ginger Snaps was an absolute stunner and its sequel, shot back-to-back with this prequel, was also stunning in that it not only didn't suck, it was nearly equally as clever! Not so as we travel back to yesteryear, where the 1815 foremothers of Ginger and Brigitte (Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins) skulk on horseback through the frosty wilderness along a mournful path toward certain DOOM! Well, that's depending on one's definition of doom. These gals don't really sweat stuff like having a geriatric soothsayer stop 'em in the woods and warble: "Kill the boy or one sister kills the other!" Or wandering upon a claw-scarred and blood-splattered fort manned by a skeleton crew of freakified frontiersman whose loins would've welcomed them with summersaults if not for a preoccupation with LOCKING THE GATES and trying not to wet themselves. Ginger doesn't even seem all that wigged when she flouts the first rule horror by FOLLOWING A NOISE INTO THE BASEMENT where she discovers a feisty youngster with dog breath, an obscene case of mange and dubious social skills. But she IS indeed doomed. Brigitte's doomed. They're all doomed because there's WEREWOLVES in them thar woods and that's exciting, eh? Not so much. There's a couple creep-worthy moments and our scrumptious starlets are somewhat engaging, but what's most memorable is the production design of the aforementioned thrashed fortress. That's hardly enough to spike a severed lycanthrope noggin on, let alone an entire film or the presumed foundation of a three-flick franchise. CineSchlockers won't be surprised when director Grant Harvey, editor Ken Filewych and writer Stephen Massicotte recall their panic of being without a SCRIPT a month before filming. Gee, there's a stunner.

HERE IS A REVIEW OF THE MOVIE GINGER SNAPS II FROM DVDTALK

Number-o Uno director and Number-o Two-o producer John Fawcett: "When we were talking about the original Ginger Snaps movie, it was always to try and be as unique and original as possible. So coming out with a sequel, it was important, again, it be unique on its own. That it be a smart movie. And it was important that it didn't suck!" Mission accomplished, John. Three-for-three, in fact. Capitalizing on the breakout success of the first little-movie-that-could was a fiscal inevitability. To preserve the core creative team and produce such an engrossing, amusing and satisfying sequel is almost as implausible as lycanthropy itself. And with a prequel on the way, Mr. Fawcett and his Canadian gorehounds could easily have themselves the Lord of the Rings of menstrual werebabe movies. Why stop at mere furry feet?

Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

HERE IS A REVIEW FOR THE MOVIE TAMARA FROM DVDTALK

The Movie

Originally destined for an unceremonious and immediate "direct-to-video" release, Tamara has earned its fair share of internet fanboy buzz earlier this year, thanks partially to the Lions Gate folks having their finger on the horror-geek pulse, but mainly because the lead actress is a stunningly sexy femme fatale who plays a murderous mega-witch super-bitch from beyond the graaaaave.

Penned by Final Destination scribe Jeffrey Reddick, Tamara is nothing more than Stephen King's (or, more specifically, Brian De Palma's) Carrie gussied up for a new generation of horror-lovin' moviegoers. As such, Tamara looks, sounds, and feels like just about every single "high school misfit wreaks unholy revenge" flick ever made, from Evilspeak to Christine and from Massacre at Central High to Laserblast -- with a few threads of I Know What You Did Last Summer tossed in to keep the horror geeks happy. (Basically: this one old-school horror concept.)

A disgraced police beagle, Shoeshine (Voiced by Jason Lee) has been picked up by the evil Simon Bar Sinister (Peter Dinklage) for a special experiment using enhanced DNA on dogs. Managing to escape after being doused with a special potion, Shoeshine finds his way into the home of young Jack (Alex Neuberger), who enjoys the newfound company. Now blessed with super powers, Shoeshine becomes Underdog, looking to stop crime, woo Polly Purebred (Amy Adams), and thwart Sinister's new plans to rule the city.

"Underdog" comes from the limited-imagination school of "Garfield," taking a adored animated creation and turning it into a bizarre live-action situation where the purity of the source material is fogged up by the technology of the update. That said, "Underdog" is not nearly as painful as the lasagna-loving feline, but the senseless nature of the whole endeavor stinks up the film quickly. "Underdog" is one property that didn't need the CG overhaul.

THATS RIGHT HERE IS THE MOVIE TRANSFORMERS 2007

HERE IS SOME INFO ON THE MOVIE FROM IMDB AND A FEW OTHER SITES.

A long time ago, far away on the planet of Cybertron, a war was being waged between the noble Autobots (led by the wise Optimus Prime) and the devious Decepticons (commanded by the dreaded Megatron) for control over the Allspark, a mystical talisman that would grant unlimited power to whoever possessed it. The Autobots managed to smuggle the Allspark off the planet, but Megatron blasted off in search of it. He eventually tracked it to the planet of Earth (circa 1850), but his reckless desire for power sent him right into the Arctic Ocean, and the sheer cold forced him into a paralyzed state. His body was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, and before going into a comatose state Megatron used the last of his energy to engrave a map, showing the location of the Allspark, into the Captain's glasses, and send a transmission to Cybertron. He is then carted away by the Captain's ship. A century later, Sam Witwicky, nicknamed Spike by his friends, buys his first car. To his shock, he discovers it to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise who is to protect Spike, as he bears the Captain's glasses and the map carved on them. But Bumblebee is not the only Transformer to have arrived on Earth - in the desert of Qatar, the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack a U.S. military base, causing the Pentagon to send their special Sector Seven agents to capture all "specimens of this alien race," and Spike and his girlfriend Mikaela find themselves in the middle of a grand battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, stretching from Hoover Dam all the way to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, within the depths of the Pentagon, the cryogenically stored form of Megatron awakens... Written by Sivaji IMDBoss

High-school student Sam Witwicky buys his first car, who is actually the Autobot Bumblebee. Bumblebee defends Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela Banes from the Decepticon Barricade, before the other Autobots arrive on Earth. They are searching for the Allspark, and the war on Earth heats up as the Decepticons attack a United States military base in Qatar. Sam and Mikaela are taken by the top-secret agency Sector 7 to help stop the Decepticons, but when they learn the agency also intends to destroy the Autobots, they formulate their own plan to save the world. HERE IS A REVIEW ON THE MOVIE TRANSFORMERS FROM DVDTALK.

Has Hell actually frozen over? Are pigs now taking to the sky? I only ask because Michael Bay has achieved the unthinkable: he's directed a crushingly entertaining movie. I'm astounded the world hasn't stopped turning from the shock of it all.

Searching the galaxy for a troublesome energy cube, the Autobots, lead by Optimus Prime (voiced robustly by legend Peter Cullen), have arrived on Earth. Teaming up with a teenager named Sam (Shia LeBeouf) and innocent bystander Mikeala (Megan Fox), the Autobots set out to complete their mission; but when government agents interfere (led by John Turturro and Jon Voight, with grunts played by Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson), it awakens the wrath of the Decepticons, who free their leader Megatron (Hugo Weaving) from his ice prison and put Earth in their crosshairs as they challenge Prime for control of the all-powerful cube.

The "Transformers" line of robot toys was the adolescent boy Spice Melange back in the 1980s, accompanied by a bewitching cartoon series that peaked with the release of a bizarre 1986 animated feature film. They were classic plastic creations, born of primary colors and blocky, sometimes puzzling movement, and they held the imagination of millions of children hostage all over the globe; a radiant legacy that continues to this day. Turning something this iconic and fanboy-protected (I've met some who would fall on their sword for Prime) into a hip summer popcorn product (live action no less) is an endeavor I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Coincidently, Bay turns out to be the right man for the job.

I've been hard on Bay in the past, but deservedly so; he works too feverishly in the area of sensory overload, thinking a sheer wall of sound will stupefy his audience long enough to swallow the Shinola he's shoveling. Bay's films are crude, self-aware, and frequently insulting, but with "Transformers," his swollen ego is tethered to radical geek expectations that he's no match for.

Granted, these aren't your granddaddy's Transformers. Souped up to resemble high-tech living robots while fighting and the latest in automobile trends in car form, Bay and the producers have mucked around considerably with the look of the Autobots and Decepticons, putting the infamous flames on Optimus Prime and turning Megatron into an alien jet. Supporters of the all-holy "G1" have every right to scoff, but "Transformers" has a wonderful way of making these ludicrous alterations fit into the bigger, slicker picture, pressing down hard on the extraterrestrial angle of our visitors. It's only a matter of moments before you buy these reinvented incarnations of popular characters and another few seconds before you start to root for their victory and defeat.

Bay being Bay, there is a small armada of Bayisms scattered throughout the picture, including a reprise of asinine gunfight camera technology that was employed in "Bad Boys 2," an obsession with tanned womanly attributes (keep in mind Fox's character is supposed to be 17 years-old), and some of the most unimaginative scoring and soundtrack selections of the year. Bay also gets predictably nutso during the combat sequences, but I was floored to see his typical edit count of a billion tempered down to a mere million. Bay respects the scope of the Transformer might, and appears willing, for the very first time in his career, to let some shots play out, allowing the viewer to get a clear gander at the enormity of the "robots in disguise" and their unholy wrath.

Bay also ropes off some space for the human factor, using Sam as a spacer in-between scenes of special effects brawling with other special effects. While LeBeouf is doing his habitual LeBeouf stammering square dance in the film, his teen distress is welcome amidst all of the intricate visual splendor, playing well off Fox and the macho military militia (a Bay staple) that swarms in the latter half of the film. The "flesh-based organisms" are here to keep the picture light and approachable, and it's amazing how well these limited actors are able to accomplish that.

Running a woozy 140 minutes, "Transformers" never runs out of juice, saving an eye-opening amount of rocket sauce for the final battle between good vs. evil. Those more accustomed to Bay's 10 Commandments of Destruction ("Thou Shall Bleedeth from the Ears," etc.) will be delighted to see the film finally go completely bonkers, wrecking entire Los Angeles city blocks and skyscrapers, killing beloved characters, and in general smashing anything that dares stand in the way. It also means a true payoff of both the seamless special effects and the Transformer design, as the Autobots and the Decepticons go medieval on each other with a thundering PG-13-bending rage. It's the kind of mayhem that a 12-year-old boy's dreams are made of, and makes for a comfortably numb viewing experience that takes a worthwhile leap of bonehead faith to fully embrace.

Frankly, I've never seen Bay share this much joy with action before. Maybe it's his distance from the source material or perhaps he wants out of the movie jail 2005's brain-dead flop "The Island" locked him in. Either way, Bay is starting to control his sinister urges little by little, and I pray it signals maturity rather than short-lived career panic.

I can't say "Transformers" ends as much as it takes a breather to wait for the box office tally to roll in. There's a promise of a sequel made at the conclusion of this breathless film; a prospect that I wouldn't mind seeing fulfilled. Sure, Michael Bay fussed hilariously with the Transformer designs and allowed Prime to utter the hacky line, "my bad," yet I can't fight the reality that he's also created a rock 'em, sock 'em piece of thunderbolt summer escapism. It doesn't wash away his past sins, but "Transformers" provides two emotions I never thought I'd feel walking out of a Michael Bay film: hope and satisfaction.
